ABOUT ROTARY R.E.ACTION
"R.E.Action" - Rotary Emergency Action, was set up by Cleadon Rotarian Peter Leech (Paul Harris Fellow) within "Rotary International Great Britain and Ireland" (RIBI) to assist localised emergency services in dealing with and helping relatives of disaster victims. It is now recognised nationwide by the emergency services.
Every local authority, (through their County Emergency Planning Department), maintains a Local Emergency Plan to cater for almost every type of disaster or foreseeable emergency. Rotary makes itself available under these plans to assist with the arrival and befriending of the friends and/or relatives of the victims - who will start arriving in the locality shortly after the event.
The main function of Re-Action is to “Befriend” these people and try to make their stay in the locality as comfortable and bearable as possible under the tragic circumstances.
