AQUABOX is an official project of Rotary International in Great Britain and Ireland and Rotary International District 1220, managed by its initiators, the Rotary Club of Wirksworth in Derbyshire.

A Memororandum of Understanding exists between Aquabox and Aquafilter to develop the units, to launch them as part of the Aquabox family and jointly explore the general market outside Aquabox.

Back in 2005,  Aquabox, distributed 30-40 or so first generation AquaFilters through their associates. In addition, the original aim of having an AquaFilter in an Aquabox predates 2005 by some time and came from Frank Lund of Aquabox. The first generation MilleniumPore filters required radical re-engineering in order to meet the stringent field requirements.

When John Griffith of Cleadon and District Rotary Club started to get interested in the technical challenge of a new improved version, Aquabox offered the beta test and marketing support together with technical input based on their in house experience (industrial research and nuclear engineering) and have offered invaluable assistance and help in keeping the filter development on track.

The AquaFilter "beta" test sites are largely those opened up through our Aquabox associates.
